Islands of the Bay: Capri, Ischia & Procida
4 days — Naples, then the three bay islands.
Curatorial note
The island-hopper's short trip. Naples in, then Capri for the glamour (and the crowds), Ischia for the thermal beaches and the food, and tiny Procida for the colors. Ferries connect all three; no car needed.

Island · Campania
Procida
The colorful, un-touristy sister of Capri — a small island of pastel houses, fishing harbors, and lemon groves, without the day-trip crowds. Worth a night for the slow island.

Island · Campania
Capri
Capri is worth a day trip or one night. It is extraordinarily crowded in season — the day-tripper crush from 11am to 4pm is intense. Stay overnight to see it empty, or ferry in early and leave by late afternoon.

Island · Campania
Ischia
Ischia is worth two or three nights if you want thermal spas, beaches, and a slower island pace. It is the better alternative to Capri for travelers who want to stay, not day-trip.

Town · Campania
Naples
Naples is worth two nights and rewards the traveler who doesn't need things tidy. It is the gateway to Pompeii, the Amalfi Coast, and Capri, and it has the best pizza in Italy. Skip it only if you need order and calm.
